EXCLUSIVE! NETZER CHAZANI HOUSE TAKES DIRECT KASSAM MISSILE HIT
At approximately one a.m., a large Kassam missile fell very close to my broadcasting position inside a local building in the Gush Katif community of Netzer Chazani. After dozens of these incidents all over Gush Katif for several months, one becomes reasonably controlled in spite of the missile’s uniquely disturbing effect. Nevertheless, this one was closer than is comfortable even for the hardened. This was evidenced by one of the local youths who ran into the building said in Hebrew: "Mamash Karov!" or “Really Close!”.
Despite the warnings of the local security to “go back to your house”, I was able reach the impact point and view the missile damage. This was a large Kassam missile (it was about 60cm after impact/explosion) and what was both extraordinary and gripping was that the missile was still nearly too hot to touch. The whole family and nearby neighbors gathered around to view the damage. The missile hit the house of a local family who own a large and beautiful home and a matching, attached guest home where their son is staying. This is where the missile hit…at the entrance to the guest home. After speaking with the residents of the main house (20-25 feet away from missile strike), they expressed gratitude that their son was not by the door at the time of the attack.
Another unique aspect of this shockingly-common incident is that on the bomb there was a paper label with in arabic translates into “Yasser”. Somehow the paper labeling survived nearly intact despite the launch, flight, and impact. The message is quite clear. Life as usual here in Gush Katif.
In the words of the sagely radio host Shai Ben-Tekoa (deprogramprogram.com), Gush Katif is a “free Jew shooting zone”, a modern-day version of the roman coliseum. Or, as that translates into life here, they attempt to murder sleeping citizens & their children in the middle of the night and the state of Israel yawns. Who can be so blind as to not see where this is leading? What future is there for a state and a people that sleep “quietly” while sweet Gush Katif children are being used as the bait for arab terrorist “target” shooting.
