WaPo way outta line
I'm a little late in linking to Soccer Dad's now-famous post about the January 1st editorial in the Washington Post: Preelection Turmoil. Sorry to be falling behind, but everyone around here -including myself- is glued to news about the trapped coalminers.
Soccer Dad carefully dissects the way(s) WaPo whitewashes the Palestinians and the "turmoil" among terrorists leading up to their imitation election. It's disgusting ... but I'll let him tell you; I just wanted to make sure you didn't miss it. He also issued a challenge to bloggers to write a letter to the editor or op-ed in response to the editorial.
I don't know if I can do that right now. I'm sitting here still stunned that the Associated Press referred to suicide bombers as "martyrs" and I'm really pissed off that Aljazeera is running the headline, Hope recedes for trapped US miners. Governor Joe Manchin (he lives down the street) said tonight "In West Virginia, we believe in the power of prayer" ... and we're all praying for a miracle. Aljazeera be damned.

Despite Risks, Miners Find Strength, Solidarity Underground:
What most Americans don't quite get is that the men (and women too) underground who do the dirtiest work so we can have heat for our homes, gold for our engagement rings and silver for our computer
components know something and have something that we can't grasp. They have one another. They depend on one another. If those 13 men in the Sago Mine are alive, you can bet that each one is boosting the spirits of the other. Miners share an undeniable swagger that ensures they don't run from trouble and they don't leave anyone behind. They are tough and strong.
