Here's a comment I received on the Bush Bashing at a Funeral post.
You've obviously forgot, or never knew, that the King legacy was speakng truth to power. Don't ever forget for a damn moment that if it wasn't for the American left, you'd be living in a country with a state-sponsored religion (xianity). You obviously don't give a damn that the King's were once the subjects of numerous wiretaps and illegal searches. Hell, you're an apologist for government abuse of the 4th Amendment and a poster man-child for historical ignorance. You would have been a cappo in the camps. Yemakh shmoy.
Also heard from The Town Crier that "it was a gutsy move by the revrend and lacking tact by carter. But the truth hurts."
I don't agree that it was "gutsy." I thought it was rude, undignified and inappropriate to bring political hatred to a funeral. I don't think either of the Kings would have been proud to see a sacred and solemn occasion exploited for the purpose of humiliating the President of the United States. That wasn't their style.
From my point of view, it was Dubya who was gutsy. He was polite, dignified and appropriate under the most difficult of circumstances. He's a class act, and he came out of this smelling like a rose.
The truth - as I see it - was that the reverend and the ex-president besmirched the memory of a good lady, and yes, that hurts.
