Imagine ... a world without the UNRWA

from an AIPAC email:

Palestinian Refugee Agency Cited for Financial Waste and Terror Ties

A pair of lawmakers active in U.N. reform efforts recently renewed criticism of the U.N. Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), which was set up in 1950 to assist Palestinian refugees but has since been accused of corruption and fostering terrorism against Israel. Sen. Norm Coleman (R-MN) said the United States should use financial leverage to persuade the agency to become more transparent about its finances. Noting that UNRWA employs thousands of Palestinians linked to terrorist groups, Rep. Mark Kirk (R-IL) said that funding the agency may violate federal law.

Syria Sanctions Authors Urge Full Implementation

Reps. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL) and Eliot Engel (D-NY), co-authors of the Syria Accountability and Lebanese Sovereignty Restoration Act, recently sent a letter to the President urging the implementation of all sanctions against Syria authorized by the legislation. " Syria has refused to heed calls to be a responsible international actor," the lawmakers said in the letter. "It houses a long list of Palestinian and Islamist terrorist groups, including Hamas, and provides critical support for Hizballah."
