One Warped Jew

Warning: This columnist thinks that anti-Zionist Tony Judt is a "gifted...historian."

Richard Cohen's column in today's Washington Post is slimey and vile. The first line is a jaw-dropper - "The greatest mistake Israel could make at the moment is to forget that Israel itself is a mistake."

And it only gets worse after that.

There is no point in condemning Hezbollah.... And there's not much point, either, in condemning Hamas.... There is, though, a point in cautioning Israel to exercise restraint -- not for the sake of its enemies but for itself. Whatever happens, Israel must not use its military might to win back what it has already chosen to lose: the buffer zone in southern Lebanon and the Gaza Strip itself....worse than what is happening now would be a retaking of those territories. That would put Israel smack back to where it was, subjugating a restless, angry population and having the world look on as it committed the inevitable sins of an occupying power.

I don't even know why I blog this, except that Cohen's pathetic and cowardly perspective is a danger to Jews. Now is not the time, indeed I cannot imagine such a time, when Jews should be running to hide under the covers. It's bad enough that a quarter of a million Jews slept in bomb shelters last night in the land of Israel.

I just cannot fathom how Cohen is not too embarrassed to write,

The smart choice is to pull back to defensible -- but hardly impervious -- borders. That includes getting out of most of the West Bank -- and waiting (and hoping) that history will get distracted and move on to something else. This will take some time...

After acknowledging in this very same column that 95.7 percent of Poland's Jews were murdered in the Holocaust, Cohen has the audacity to suggest that Israel wait and hope "that history will get distracted and move on."

This is one warped Jew, boys and girls. Whatever he says, do the opposite; and if you feel slimed after reading him, repeat after me:

Am Yisrael Chai
Continue repeating until all toxicity has evaporated.

As a Christian American (non practicing because I love premarital sex), I am continually shocked at the number of Jewish Americans who can be so self-hating and naive as Cohen.
He (Cohen) reminds me of the German Jews who said "Hitler really means the Polish Jews, they really do cause all the trouble." Will we ever learn?
"Israel is a mistake"? Giving a home to refugees from pogroms, exile, forced conversion, discrimination was a mistake? Creating Israel is the most noble and humanitarian act the international community may ever do. Not so, unfortunately, for the rest of the region. Syria, Iraq, Lebanon, Jordan - all created by the WWI powers with little attention to whether their constituent groups would get along, and in the case of Iraq and Jordan, with the installation of royalty from Saudi Arabia as the heads of state! The world is still paying the price for this real smart thinking.
""The greatest mistake Israel could make at the moment is to forget that Israel itself is a mistake. It is an honest mistake, a well-intentioned mistake, a mistake for which no one is culpable, but the idea of creating a nation of European Jews in an area of Arab Muslims (and some Christians) has produced a century of warfare and terrorism of the sort we are seeing now. Israel fights Hezbollah in the north and Hamas in the south, but its most formidable enemy is history itself."" He's a very clever propagandist, which you all miss. He defined the debate as "European" Jews. This is an important element to anti-Israel argumentation for the Western leftist audiences obsessed with identity and the "Europeaness" of Israel. The truth is about 1/2 of the Jews in Israel are from Muslim lands by heritage. Accenting that fact undermines the crypto-racial argument against Israel. Harping about the Holocaust doesn't gain you points, it validates the leftist filter. When the Mullahs complain about the Holocaust and Israel the appropriate response would be to point out Iranian and Arab Jews in Israel. That's a winning argument. Many people don't know about that. Your automatic responses should be pointing out the arab Jews, and pointing out that the "United Nations" created Israel. Someone is "culpable," the UN. They hate to acknowledge that fact since they privilege that institution with near-godly correctness. Also the movement to a Jewish state preceded WWII
