Too little too late (and still stupid)

Much J-blogattention is being paid to the fact that the Israeli Left, personified in this Haaretz commentary, is now coming 'round to oppose the disengagement.

We deserve the Qassams and the Katyushas

.... The truth? We earned it honestly as a nation of gullible fools, who over and over followed the illusions of quiet, peace and demography sold buy its leaders. We deserve it. However, the influence of the recent events has moved something, maybe temporarily, but something has moved. Suddenly, there's not enough room on board for all those who are disengagement opponents.

We are in the middle beginning of yet another war for Israel's survival. Anyone who is saying "I told you so" about the disengagement is at this point completely out of line. And not only that, but this notion that any Israeli "deserves" to be attacked is utterly hideous.

Israel's leftists may now see the folly - if not the sin - of disengagement, but this "new" sentiment issues not from a sudden flash of moral clarity, but from the Left's same-old same-old urge to self-flagellate.

It's disgusting.
