What, if anything was wrong with Chavez' speech?
As of this writing:
46% - There was nothing wrong with Chavez' speech. Most of the world feels that way.
24% - He didn't genuflect before Bush, like Pelosi, Rangel et al.
20% - Chavez referred to reading Chomsky's Hegemony essay.
8% - He told it like it was!

I want to show you one other thing before I leave LeftyLand: Negative Narrative: Republicans are Incompetent Ideologues
My main thrust in this first diary is to define Republican extremism, so that Democrats have a 'negative narrative' with which to hammer their opponents....The Republican Negative Narrative has to be simple, clear, and broad enough to fit within it a wide array of events (both past and future blunders). Here's my proposal: Republicans are Incompetent Ideologues (yes, I do like alliteration). This negative narrative offers much promise, because it encapsulates what many see as the reason why the Bush administration and its Republican allies on the Hill have failed so miserably from Iraq to the budget deficit to Katrina, etc.
.... The negative narrative works ....virtually anything fits: corruption, stem-cell, Plan B contraception, estate tax, you name it. This gives Democrats a unifying theme, and it also gives them a positive narrative to use when they contrast themselves with Republicans. Republicans are Incompetent Ideologues, and Democrats are Practical Problem-solvers.
heh.
