How would you like to build in JerusalemISRAEL, from the comfort of your own home? It may just be possible, and I'm not talking about when the Moshiach comes. Hasbro producing a "World Edition" of the all-time favorite board game, Monopoly, and there is a contest on to determine which cities of the world will be included.
JerusalemISRAEL is among the possibilities.
My friends at OneJerusalem have been on this story for two weeks already, and my friend Devorah at CJHSLA has already sent out thousands of Action Alerts, so I apologize that I'm so late to the game.
The contest, which ... will continue through February 28, will allow Monopoly fans the world over to cast their ballots for the 10 best cities from a pre-selected list, including Jerusalem, Israel.
- The 20 cities with the highest number of votes will appear on the new global Monopoly board.
- Please ONLY vote for Jerusalem . Voting for other cities will reduce Jerusalem ’s relative scoring.
- Jerusalem is currently listed at #5. With your help, we will make it #1.
- You can vote EVERY DAY up to Feb. 28.
Go to Hasbro's site.In the right-pane, click ‘Sort By: Cities’ (see the OneJerusalem diagram)
Scroll down to ‘ Jerusalem , Israel ’ > Click it.
A pop-up appears, click ‘Add to My Cities’
A small picture of Jerusalem should appear in lower section of the screen.
(Please do not select any other cities. This would reduce Jerusalem ’s scoring.)Click Vote.
Click ‘Create your login now.’
Enter a desired Username and Password > Click Save.
You will receive a confirmation email at the entered address.
Click the link in the email.
Once a day until Feb. 28, repeat as above.
Late is one thing, complacent is quite another. I urge you not to be complacent about this, it's more important than it may seem at first glance. Our enemies may not be able to take votes away from Jerusalem, but they can vote en masse for other cities. Did you ever see a political poll after Ron Paul fans got wind of it? Consider the top ten cities as of this writing -- with 10 days, 9 hours and 52 minutes to go.
1. Istanbul, Turkey 4.4%Riga Latvia is a more popular world city than New York or Paris? I don't think so.2. Montreal, Canada 4.3%
3. Capetown, South Africa 3.6%
4. Riga, Latvia 3.5%
5. Jerusalem, Israel 3.4%
6. London, UK 3.4%
7. Rome, Italy 3.4%
8. Paris, France 3.3%
9. New York, USA 3.2%
10. Belgrade, Serbia 3.2%
You need to VOTE and you need to VOTE every day and you need to get your friends to VOTE (send them this link or this alert or send them to BtB).
We can't bring Ariel Sharon back, we can't undo the Disengagement, we can't send the IDF into Gaza and we can't make Condi Rice see the error of her dreams. We can't get Ahmadinejad to STFU and it will only be by the hand of Hashem if we can keep Israel on the map. But we CAN do this; we can ensure that our children have that moment when they "land" on JerusalemISRAEL and decide to build there. Surely that's worth a few minutes a day.
Already the BBC has questioned Hasbro about the "status" of Jerusalem.
As has been noted before in this diary, the international consensus is that the status of Jerusalem has yet to be decided. The United Nations partition vote of 1947 held that the city should be a "corpus separatum", under international supervision. That vote has not been superseded in the UN.
When approached, Hasbro, the American manufacturers of Monopoly, promised that they would not second-guess the UN, should Jerusalem be included.
In an email to the BBC, they stated: "Due to space limitations no selected city's board space will have any descriptive text aside from said city's common name."
Please help. Please vote for JerusalemISRAEL.
