You can't un-ring a bell
David Hornik wonders "if, while she's here, Rice bothers reading the Israeli press." He goes on to name a few articles she might have seen on this and her previous trip. These include an IDF report that US-trained Palestinian Authority "soldiers" are allowing terrorism to flourish in Judea and Samaria and that weapons given by the U.S. to the PA are finding their way to Hamas and Islamic Jihad. Of course, terrorists have also infiltrated the PA police and "military." (I thought the palestinian "state" was to be a "demilitarized" one ... so why do they now have a military?)
Of course all this is common knowledge to those of us who, unlike Secretary Rice, try to stay informed of Israel's security or lack thereof. We all know that these Arab actions are in direct contravention of the Road Map, but Rice never makes the mental connections. She's too busy punishing the Jews for the racial slights she remembers from her childhood. And the only non-diplomats she ever sees are the antisemites from Dhimmedia who just egg her on: "Madame Secretary, you are not annoyed that every time you go there, there is a new announcement of settlements, either just before you come or just after you leave?"
So as I was saying, Hornik mentions recent news reports... like the palestinian man who was trying to carry four pipe bombs through a check point near Nablus (Rice echoes in my head, about the "obligation" of Israel to improve the quality of life for poorpalestinians) and the one who was caught with a six-inch knife...
But then at the end, he writes about the real problem Rice has created for Israel.
She has — with the blessing of her boss, President George W. Bush—further eroded the legitimacy of Israel’s security concerns and Jewish essence, and whoever is her successor, if so inclined, will find it all the easier to continue her destructive path.
So pray for the peace of Jerusalem and vote for McCain in November (with any luck, McCain-Cantor).
Certainly not Obama. Please, no.
