Israel today released 200 palestinian prisoners convicts in a "good will gesture" to its enemy, and Condoleezza Rice is in Jerusalem again -- on what the New York Times calls "the latest of a series of recent visits to the region."
I think this is actually her 20th trip (correct me if I'm wrong); she hasn't gone anywhere else on the planet that many times. It's reminiscent of the Clinton era, when Arafat was the most frequent guest in the White House, only of course nowadays America travels to the House of Ramallah instead of the other way around.
Two of the convicts who were released have blood on their hands (while the Times puts that phrase in quote marks, I don't see the need). Last night the Israeli High Court of "Justice" rejected a petition against the release .. from an organization of the victims of terrorist attacks.
An Israeli government spokesperson told the Associated Press that "It's not easy for Israel to release prisoners." I don't know what he's talking about, they do it all the time. Can you say... Kuntar?
Here in America, the Dems and their SuperDelegates have arrived in Denver for four days of bickering, hot wind and celebration, at a cost of $100 million. I heard that they're handing out palm fronds to the crowd for that special moment when the Obamessiah rides into the Pepsi Center on a donkey, but I'm not sure that's true. (I do hope he brings his birth certificate.)
Gd help us, boys and girls. I may just go back to bed myself.
