A BtB reader who was there sends this panoramic collage of the crowd. He could only gauge attendance as "anywhere from 12,000 to 20,000" -- and writes that several times, the crowd broke into a spontaneous chant of "Sar-ah! Sar-ah! Sar-ah!"

On the Saturday afternoon of Labor Day weekend, all these people sat in the sun and heat for four hours, waiting to catch a (15-minute) glimpse of McCain and Palin.
