Boker tov. I woke up this morning with a start. I started thinking what it will mean if Obama is elected and the Democrats win majorities in the Senate and the House. It all started with a fund-raising letter I got in the mail yesterday from some conservative cause. The letter mentioned in passing that in such a case, the Democrats will control the federal government. Imagine that.
You know me, I immediately added Dhimmedia to that picture. A leftist media -like the one we have now, that tears Sarah Palin to shreds and actually advocates for Obama without parsing his background- could not be trusted to provide any oversight of such a government. We will not know anything and we will not be allowed to know anything. You think I exaggerate, but already we're not allowed to know anything about Barack Obama, and he may be our next president! Already we don't have the power to demand that he document his legal name, his nationality, or show us his SAT scores. Well, we still have the power to demand it inside our own echo chamber, but not sufficient power to actually get our questions addressed in the mainstream.
Just imagine. There would effectively be no voice for the opposition. There would be no government transparency because there will be no voice in goverment or media to demand it. Have you noticed that the liberal majority is perfectly content with the media as it is, the media that favors it, is "in the tank" for it, and advocates for it? They think their view is the "normal" one, and expect a "normal" media to reflect that "normalcy" (and only that).
The national "unity" Obama has promised will play out in an all-liberal media that sings in unison with the all-liberal government. If you think the New York Times ignores conservative views now, just imagine how such arrogance would increase when their side is in total power.
Some of us remember how Iran saw that Jimmy Carter's America was a paper tiger and so took our embassy captive in the 70s without fear of unpleasant repercussions. Can you imagine how that country would test a President Obama? It's perfectly conceivable that they could nuke Israel - within the first year of an Obama administration - just to see what he would or wouldn't do. And my guess is, he wouldn't do anything. Obama as commander in chief? The man was never even a boy scout.
And who would complain if Iran DID wipe Israel off the map? American Jews? You mean the 3% who want to hear from the presidential candidates about Israel? All those people who back the palestinians and call for a "two-state solution" would be even happier with a "no-state" solution.
The Democrats and the media already prefer the poorpalestinians to Israelis. Reporters already flock to the homes of suicide bombers after a terrorist attack. They already ignore the Israeli children who get their legs blown off by "crude, homemade" poorpalestinian kassams. They already whitewash - if not glorify - terrorists, and give prime editorial space to Hamas "officials." They already talk about "Palestine" as if such a country exists and ignore the fact that Jerusalem is the capital of Israel. They already invite Ahmadinejad into some of our most revered institutions and allow him massive American television audiences. They're already quick to dismiss his threats to annihilate Israel, and they already demonize tha lame and mostly-fictitious "Israel Lobby." Can you imagine the trajectory of what they would do, with no holds barred? With no opposition?
The Democrats and liberal media already prefer anyone who bills themselves an an underdog, regardless of rational argument. They already prefer any black person (on the basis of their simply being black) to any "typical white" bitter clinger. They already prefer illegal immigrants to American citizens. They already defend the "human rights" of terrorists. They already prefer abortion to birth. They already despise and demoralize our military. Imagine if such a worldview were not only prevalent, but in control.
Imagine if the Dems, backed by dhimmedia, were finally able to pass their Fairness Doctrine, and shut down any powerful voices of opposition. You could kiss Rush Limbaugh and the whole of right-wing radio good-bye. The Democrats, your friends at shul (and mine), would be ecstatic. They would be overjoyed, thinking they had rid the airwaves of dangerous right-wing extremist lunatics. I know this is true because I was once a liberal and that's how I would have seen it also. And if you think it's bad now that PBS disseminates liberalism by way of our tax dollars, just imagine what it will be like with effectively no conservative representation in the federal government to provide any expectations or limitations.
Obama has said that "no one has suffered more than the poorpalestinians." He has said that he would "stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift" against them. Even Ralph Nader has said that Obama was "pro-Palestinian when he was in Illinois" and that Obama's "better instincts and... knowledge have been censored" in this campaign. Imagine a truly pro-palestinian American president presiding over a liberal Federal government, backed by a left-wing mainstream media.
A former Obama insider has said that Obama actually already employs several Louis Farrakhan acolytes, members of the Nation of Islam, in his campaign and office staffs -- including the treasurer of his U.S. Senate campaign, Cynthia K. Miller, and his Senate office Director of Constituent Services, Jennifer Mason. Remember too that the district Obama represented in the Illinois state senate is the district where Farrakhan lives. And Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dorn (they bombed the Capitol and the Pentagon and no one seems to care -- Alan Colmes was quick to point out last night that, after all, no one was killed).
You might want to ask yourself how you're going to know anything about who will go in and out of the White House. You might want to ask yourself if public opinion would oppose Jeremiah Wright taking up residence there. They sure don't seem to see much wrong with him now. And later? I guess we'll have to wait and see.
Do you ever read Debbie Schlussel? On January 30, 2008 she wrote the following:
.... When Obama first ran for the U.S. Senate, he gave militant responses to the Chicago Jewish News about Israel. Obama denounced Israel's fence--which he called a "wall" and "barrier to peace"--to keep out terrorists and favored working with Yasser Arafat. When members of the Chicago Jewish community circulated his responses, Obama said that the answers were not his positions, but the work of a low-level intern. He submitted new answers. But that was a lie, the insider says. In fact, they were the work of Obama's Policy Director, Audra Wilson.Did he just say, "change his answers"?Moreover, Obama told the insider that he blamed the Mideast conflict on the Jews:
Barack told me that he felt that Jewish community was too inflexible, and that was why the situation in the Mideast could not be resolved. This is the man who says in a new campaign ad that Hillary Clinton will say anything but change nothing. Barack Obama will say anything, but change his answers.
Palestinian activist and Islamist Ali Abunimah, who was a close friend of Obama's, attended an Arab fundraiser at which the late Edward Said--plagiarist, fabricator, and prominent PLO/Arafat advisor--was the keynote speaker, and at which the Obamas were notably in attendance. Pictures on Abunimah's [electronic intifada] site ... show Obama and wife, Michelle, sitting next to Said and engaging in conversation. Abunimah, in a must-read article, says the Senator has since "changed" his proclaimed views from those he expressed privately, in order to get Jewish donors and votes.
And he has succeeded in spades. Lee Rosenberg a top Illinois official of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), the pro-Israel lobby is a big Obama donor. Ditto for former national AIPAC official Bob Asher. And Penny Pritzker of the pro-Israel family that owns Hyatt hotels. And there are so many others who have bought in to Obama's newly pro-Israel views. The insider says Obama pulled the wool over their eyes.
Obama has pulled the wool over the eyes of at least half the country, maybe more. And if the right-wing blogosphere weren't doing the heavy lifting for Fox News by providing the only research being done on Obama's background, it would be much, much more of the country. As it is, there is still a chance that McCain can squeak by.
If he is to win, it will mean removing some of the wool over some of the people's eyes. Let's just hope that day will come soon, with ease and in safety. Pessimist that I am, I fear that the wool will remain, until - Gd forbid - an acid attack burns it away. Or worse... an Iranian nuke. By then, though, it would be too little and way too late to cast a vote for the good guys.
Welcome to my waking nightmare.
