South of the Litani River
Qassem Suleimani, a senior Iranian military official, commanded a Hezbollah drill south of the Litani River in southern Lebanon roughly two weeks ago.Suleimani is the commander of the Quds Force of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, and is considered an emissary between Iran and Hezbollah.
Israeli government radio broadcasts operating in southern Lebanon reported in Arabic on the drill for the benefit of its southern Lebanese target audience.
Haaretz has the Channel 10 video.
Keep in mind the "demands" of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701, unanimously adopted in 2006...
... and please, try not to laugh -- however bitterly:
- Full cessation of hostilities
- Israeli withdrawal of all its forces from Lebanon in parallel with Lebanese and UNIFIL soldiers deploying throughout the South
- Hezbollah to be disarmed
- Full control of Lebanon by the government of Lebanon
- No paramilitary forces, including (and implying) Hezbollah, south of the Litani River
The Resolution also emphasized "the need to address urgently the unconditional release of the abducted Israeli soldiers, that have given rise to the current crisis."
