82,600,000 of Your Tax Dollars... at Work... in California

 

Who knew America was building a "new foundation" ? Somebody should send this -and this- to Glenn Beck. It gives me the creeps.

 

National Service in California: "More than 240,000 people of all ages and backgrounds are helping to meet local needs, strengthen communities, and increase civic engagement through 406 national service projects across California. "Serving with national and local nonprofits, schools, faith-based organizations and other groups, these citizens tutor and mentor children, coordinate after-school programs, build homes, conduct neighborhood patrols, restore the environment, respond to disasters, build nonprofit capacity and recruit and manage volunteers. This year, the Corporation for National and Community Service will commit more than $82,600,000 to support California communities through three national service initiatives" [Senior Corps, Americorps and Learn and Serve]. Hey, isn't that a little expensive... $82 million? for volunteerism? in California alone?

Where did they get more than $82+ million to propagate "volunteerism" in California?

Okay, so now it seems the NCCC's paid volunteer are called "Recovery Americorps members."  The Corporations's getting further and further from that old YouTube; it must surely haunt them.
