Mannie Sherberg
I cannot recommend Steyn's book too highly. He is a remarkably percipient -- and honest writer -- and easily one of the finest English-prose stylists of our time. He has written what is probably one of the gloomiest -- and most truthful -- books about America in our country's history. It is -- like books about the Holocaust -- painful to read. But -- again like books about the Holocaust -- it is a book that those of us who love our grandchildren dare not ignore. Whatever the future may hold for our beleagured country, no one -- after the publication of "After America" -- will be able to say we weren't warned.

Mannie, I heard Steyn in a talk about the book on C-SPAN Books and he was incredible but omigosh, I was depressed for days afterward. I'll have to get the book, but read it in small doses.
