Todah to Bill for sending along this post by Rachel Raskin-Zrihen (to which I have added some links for your further edification):
The Palestinians have chosen what is likely the worst time in modern history to make a wildly controversial, boneheaded, unhelpful move.
Their threat to unilaterally declare a state in part of what is someone else’s country is meant to further isolate Israel, which has taken a pounding in the Arabs’ propaganda war against it for years.
I’m sure they’re thinking that they have succeeded beyond their wildest dreams in manipulating worldwide public opinion with their constant, never-ending revisionist agenda – in ways both glaring and subtle – enabling them to breeze right through this latest gambit.
What they didn’t count on, I don’t think, was the international economic recession, which has caused the European Union to consider cutting off its millions in annual welfare to the Palestinians.
With an ever-growing population steeped not only in a culture of hate and violence but also in possession of the ultimate “entitlement” mentality, things don’t bode well for the Palestinian people’s short-term fate if they appeal to the U.N.
