It would be encouraging to hear President Obama echoing Governor Palin's wise "all of the above" statements on energy policy if his so recent action of refusing to allow the Keystone pipeline to be built didn't reveal that this conversion to sanity was fraudulent. This idiotic decision is all the more enraging because it is intended to force the Canadians to ship their oil to US markets on railroads controlled by Obama's political ally and campaign donor, Warren Buffett. Even more enraging is listening to Obama take credit for increased petroleum production and decreased imports. Because of the years long lag time between regulatory approval, exploration and development, the recent increases in production are a legacy of the Bush administration. We must all pray that the current crop of Republican candidates who have gathered into a circular firing squad will destroy each other so that Governor Palin can win the nomination in a brokered convention.

James, I have to admit that would be the fight of the ages and I would love to see it, but I don't expect the Republican Establishment would cooperate. Their heads are already exploding over Newt.

Yael, The fact that the Republican establishment's heads are exploding over Newt is why they would accept Palin as a compromise candidate. It is quite obvious that Palin is having a profound influence on the primaries, alternately lifting candidates then tearing them down. Given the volatility, it is inevitable that none of the candidates will have won the nomination by the time of the convention. The simmering hostilities between the declared candidates will be boiling over, making it impossible for them to compromise on a nominee. Palin's well calculated "panties in a wad" comment has effectively emasculated Chris Christ (does he wear Granny Panties, bikini briefs or a thong?). The many other potential nominees who have so eagerly endorsed Romney will have been discredited by his defeat. Palin will remain as the only, viable candidate.

This brokered convention stuff is nonsense. To think that a candidate could just jump in, without battling it out in the almost 20 debates as these candidates have, without having been vetted, without having to withstand the intense scrutiny and attention that these candidates have withstood, that he or she could just ride in on a white horse and save the day - it is utterly ridiculous.
