Mannie Sherberg
The EU has been on shaky ground since day one, and we are now, I suspect, seeing the beginning of its end. A new French government that sees eye-to-eye with the Germans on virtually nothing, and a Greek government whose neo-Nazi leanings are sure to be anathema to Angela Merkel -- none of this bodes well for the future of the eurozone, which was an idea doomed to failure from the outset. The naivete of the EU's founders -- who really seemed to believe that Europe could or would set aside its seething hatreds and and settle into continental bliss -- was and remains a more impossible dream than any ever dreamt by Don Quixote. None of today's EU news is surprising -- but one detail is especially disturbing: "world usurers" has always been a fascist (and communist) euphemism for "Jews." The EU is already marinated in Muslim Jew-hatred; now it appears that non-Muslim Jew-hatred may be gettting ready for an encore performance. This will bear close watching in the months ahead.
