Milbank's column seems typical of the Left's reaction to Obama's speech: disappointed, apathetic, underwhelmed. By now, you would think, Obama should be getting the message: being a messiah is a tough gig. Messiahs are supposed to do SOMETHING out of the ordinary. Wrecking the world's strongest economy is hardly out of the ordinary; any nitwit, ding-a-ling, or simpleton could easily do that. Obama's problem is that the rubes are getting tired of waiting. They're getting uneasy, fidgety, restive. They're starting to ask the question that -- sooner or later -- all messiahs must answer: Where in the hell is the miracle?
