Perhaps you remember that yesterday, President Obama spent the entire day on four fundraisers for his re-election campaign, two in San Antonio and two more in Austin.
David Nakamura, covering the story for the Washington Post, puts it this way:
"President Obama took a rare break ...from campaigning in swing states to visit deep-red Texas..."
Yeah I know, the point is that it's needless for Obama to seek votes in Texas because that state will go overwhelmingly to Romney; it's hardly a "swing state," "tossup" or "battleground" in this election. But c'mon... "a rare break"? That phrasing just rubs me the wrong way, as if fundraisers were somehow unrelated to "campaigning."
