In the course of a day, I read an awful lot of junk. This, however, is not only not junk but Very Important if it's right, and it sounds right to me.  Everyone needs to be aware.

 

PRESIDENTIAL POLLS, ISRAEL, AND IRAN'S NUCLEAR AMBITION

An article in the Israeli National News in early August suggested that the Israeli political and military leadership, in order to put Tehran’s experiments with atomic playthings out of business, is prepared to unleash a nuclear electromagnetic pulse (EMP) against Iran sometime this fall by exploding a nuclear device high above the Iranian desert. Such a strike would send intense electromagnetic radiation over as much as 1,000 square miles, frying Iran’s electrical grid and bring its oil business, transportation, defense capabilities and most everything else that operates electronically to a grinding halt. 

Nobody would be injured, radiation would stay in the stratosphere, and the Iranians wouldn’t know anything had happened until they flipped on the lights. In short order, food supplies would be consumed and would perish; all forms of communications would be out of business; transportation would stop; and the country would undergo economic collapse. That would just be the collateral damage. The real benefit, for Israel, would be that Iran’s uranium-enriching centrifuges would be frozen solid for years to come....

.... Israel would certainly count on its closest ally for support in defending itself... another reason why it might be more likely to strike before the US election. To ensure continued support from Jewish donors and voters, Obama would be hard-pressed to deny support to Israel shortly before November 6.

... According to The Wall Street Journal ... there's a fear that a re-elected President Obama will take a much harsher line on an Israeli attack than he would before the first Tuesday in November.”  So if it looks like Obama is pulling ahead in the polls, off goes the Israeli Jericho III missile and boom goes its 750kg nuclear device.

The EMP attack may happen -- but it won't happen with Obama's support, whether real or feigned. Obama would have no reason to support the attack, because he knows full well that his condemnation of the attack -- which is sure to come -- would immediately be loudly and lustily applauded by all those Jews who still intend to vote for him in November. These are "progressivist" Jews who believe that Israel is the author of its own woes and deserves whatever condemnation it gets. They will support Obama to the hilt, thereby leaving him free to vilify the attack to his heart's content. That vilification will re-energize all those Dims who booed the inclusion of "Jerusalem" in the platform -- among whom, I would bet, were many Jews. The Israelis aren't stupid, and they aren't naive; they know that if they go ahead with an EMP attack or any other kind of attack, they will be reviled by every Leftie in the world -- starting with Obama.

Since Netanyahu and Obama are scheduled to meet around September 27, when Netanyahu addresses the UN, the key dates, if the article is correct, will be October 15-17th.

Elan, I would agree about the dates. But if it's not to be until sometime after the meeting, it could be as soon as immediately afterward - say, the following weekend, Sept. 29/30 - especially if the meeting doesn't "go well." And only an optimist would think it might.
