Mannie Sherberg
I seem to remember that in the Betty Friedan/Gloria Steinem era, feminists insisted that we must stop dressing boy babies in blue one-sies and girl babies in pink one-sies because such attire was sexist -- and in some way or another influenced the tiny tykes to become, when they grew up, rabid sexists themselves. Yet just a few years later, when the big push against breast cancer began, many of these same feminists decided to make pink the breast-cancer-awareness color because, after all, breast cancer is a disease that afflicts mostly women -- and pink is the color that most readily identifies women. Which just goes to prove, I suppose, that -- when it comes to language -- you can eat your cake and have it, too. In any event, bedecking the White house in pink is an example of sappy, shmaltzy sentimentality run amuck -- and atrociously bad taste to boot.

Just be thankful it isn't being lit up in green on Muslim holidays; though such is likely imminent.

Meshulam -- that IS a gruesome thought -- and not at all far-fetched. And what a twofer that would be for Obama: lighting up the White House in the color cherished by both the worldwide jihadi movement and the worldwide environmental movement!

Will there be brown lights for colon cancer awareness?
