Mannie Sherberg
Todah rabah, Yael, for a characteristically superb piece of writing. The title -- "Against Nothingness" -- couldn't be more apt. I think I've said this before, but it bears repeating: What confronts us today is a determination -- on the part of Hamas and their kindred Jew-haters -- to undo the Creation and leave in its place only what came before: "tohu vavohu" -- the unformed void, or, to use your word, nothingness. They seek not a physical void but a moral void -- a world empty of anything resembling Jewish life. Their incessant talk about drinking blood -- with its clearly cannibalistic implications -- is proof enough. The idea could not be plainer: destroy Jewish life by drinking Jewish blood and turning it into excreta. No better definition of "nihilism" can be imagined. That young Jews -- smug in their abysmal ignorance of what's really going on -- are buying into this evil is dismaying beyond words.
