... while Republicans, conservatives, and libertarians are all revved-up about gun control, social issues, and even the economy, the real permanent damage is being done elsewhere....

.... And when I say permanent damage, I mean it. You can always change gun laws (we have several times already). The social issues are largely determined by the culture, and ... the economy is only partially in the hands of the government.

What you can’t simply change is the nature of global forces, the power configuration of our planet. Since World War II, the world has survived and prospered to a remarkable degree under U.S. leadership. Nazism was defeated, followed by the downfall or reformation of equally murderous communist regimes.

So while The Won drones on about immigration, you can best use your time to write and call your Senators. Tell them:

 

• They have appeased Islamic terrorism and extremism;
• They have supported the butcher of Syria, Bashar al-Assad and the leader of the Jew-hating, terrorism-supporting Muslim Brotherhood, Mohamed Morsi;
• They have supported the weakening of the U.S. military and American influence around the world;
• They believe the U.S. should have stronger ties to the Islamic world and a more distant relationship with Israel.

At the moment, we do not know if the explosion at Fordo really happened. The Iranians deny it, the Obama administration says it has no credible information that it happened, and anonymous Israeli intelligence sources say that it did. Let's hope the Israeli sources are right. Nothing could be plainer than that the world at large -- including of course the United States -- has no intention of doing the only thing that will prevent Iran from getting its bomb: taking military action. This will remain true as long as Obama is in the White House and irrespective of who his National Security Advisor or his Secretary of State or his Secretary of Defense may be. He can fill those jobs with Larry, Moe, and Curley for all the difference it will make. Obama's calling the shots; the identities of the supporting personnel are entirely beside the point. Sycophants, toadies, and lackeys are as fungible as dollar bills. What matters now is one thing and one thing only: action on the ground.
