Michael Reagan sounds fatalistic, but he's right: There's nothing we - the American people -- can do at the moment to stop (or even slow down) the accelerating disintegration of our country. Humpty-Dumpty was also right: The meaning of words very much depends upon who's the master. In Stalin's USSR, "law" meant firing bullets into the brains of innocent human beings; in Obama's America, "investment" means squandering other people's money to enrich one's cronies. Different languages, different words, same principle. Speaking of Wonderland, Obama reminds me these days of nothing so much as Lewis Carroll's crocodile: "How cheerfully he seems to grin,/ How neatly spreads his claws,/ And welcomes little fishes in/ With gently smiling jaws." Until 2017 at the earliest, we're all little fishes -- and we'd all better watch out for the guy with the gently smling jaws.
