AG Holder Asserts Authority to

Conduct Drone Strikes on U.S. Citizens

 

.... Attorney General Holder stated in a letter to Sen. Paul dated March 4, 2013: "It is possible, I suppose, to imagine an extraordinary circumstance in which it would be necessary and appropriate under the Constitution and applicable laws of the United States for the President to authorize the military to use lethal force within the territory of the United States."

 "The U.S. Attorney General's refusal to rule out the possibility of drone strikes on American citizens and on American soil is more than frightening - it is an affront the Constitutional due process rights of all Americans," Sen. Paul said.

There are enough psychological aspects to this story to fill a book -- but none more fascinating, I think, than the near-complete silence of the Left as the story plays out. With some honorable exceptions, the same Leftie loudmouths who would be bellowing to the heavens if a Republican president were involved are as mute as statues. We've all known for a long time that hypocrisy helps keep the Left in business, but this goes beyond hypocrisy; this is a demonstration of the cutthroat callousness that also helps keep the Left going. We saw an instance of that callousness at work when Robert Gibbs -- asked for a comment on the killing, by drone, of Alawki's 16-year-old American-born son and the son's friend -- shrugged off the whole matter by saying that the boy "should've picked a different father." These people -- Gibbs and his boss and the rest of their ilk -- are so power-hungry they will stop at nothing to hold on to and, if they can, enlarge their power. They are beneath contempt. I hope Paul's voice holds out forever.
