The March 21, 2010 vote on Obamacare was 219-212 in the House. No Republicans voted for it. 34 Democrats voted against it. The following day, Republicans introduced legislation to repeal the bill.
In November of that same year Democrats lost 63 House seats in the midterm elections; Republicans regained the majority.
The morning after this "shellacking," Obama vowed to work with Republicans:
“What the American people don’t want from us is to spend the next two years fighting the political battles of the last two years,” he said.
That was then. This is now:
