The Tourism Authority of Thailand announced in a statement that they have opened their first Middle East Regional Office in Dubai.The office will coordinate and promote Thailand in 12 Middle Eastern countries that include United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain, Qatar, Yemen, Jordan, Iran, Iraq, Lebanon and Syria.
Suppakit Balachandra, the director for the U.K. & Ireland, South Africa and the Middle East, said the region is a fast growing and important tourism market. The region recorded a growth of 60 percent over 2003, until August 2004.
Is it odd to anyone else to think of Thai tourists wanting to vacation . . . in Syria? I wonder what the attraction is . . .
