When I saw this piece in the Jerusalem Post by Shmuley Boteach, I was amazed. I thought he was referring to the fact that Ulysses S. Grant expelled the Jews from Kentucky,Tennessee and Mississippi in 1862. But no, he's making a different analogy: Sharon wants to "prove he was a man of peace all along" - much like Grant wanted to ameliorate his own reputation after the civil war.
Whatever.
I think my tidbit of little-known American history is more interesting (and realistic) than Boteach's opinion, but don't let that stop you from reading it all.
