I try to blog when the intermittent internet seems like it may cooperate, but my signal strength is so low that when I go to publish, all is lost. Can't seem to send an email either.
HOWEVER, my signal strength is not so low that I can't tell that the rioters in "suburban" Paris are Arab Muslims. Funny how the left-wing media is hesitant to spell that out ... and this has been going on since last Thursday.
The riots started last Thursday after the electrocution deaths of two teenagers hiding in a power station from police they believed were chasing them in the northeastern suburb of Clichy-sous-Bois.By Wednesday night, violence had spread to at least 20 Paris-region towns, said Jean-Francois Cordet, the top government official for the Seine-Saint-Denis region north of Paris where the violence has been concentrated. He said youths in the region fired four shots at riot police and firefighters but caused no injuries.
Nine people were injured in Seine-Saint-Denis and 315 cars burned across the Paris area, officials said. In the tough northeastern suburb of Aulnay-sous-Bois, youth gangs set fire to a Renault car dealership and burned at least a dozen cars, a supermarket and a local gymnasium.
Traffic was halted Thursday morning on a suburban commuter line linking Paris to Charles de Gaulle airport after stone-throwing rioters attacked two trains overnight at the Le Blanc-Mesnil station. They forced a conductor from one train and broke windows, the SNCF rail authority said. A passenger was lightly injured by broken glass.
LGF has lots more on the "Paris Intifada."
Also, you might want to read these comments at the BBC. They're even more frightening than the riots. For instance:
Since 2002, the current right wing governement has been systematically provoking the large muslim community. After banning headscarves from schools, Nicolas Sarkozy, calls poor suburbs youth (80% north african muslims) "scum". What else do you expect?Nicolas Sarkoy's comments remind me of Ariel Sharon visit of Al-Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem in 2000, it sparked the 2nd intifada and he became prime minister a few months later.
Hassan, Paris
What else do you expect ... indeed.
UPDATE: Here's another one.
I think it's fantastic! There's nothing like a riot to incite lazy politicians and powers-that-be to get off their privileged behinds and do something for those in need. I say, "Good for THEM!!"Now, let's riot on the White House.....maybe Bush will resign or, god willing, get impeached. Hey, a girl can dream, can't she???
