I can't help but think of Robert Duvall's twisted line in Apocalypse Now ... "I love the smell of napalm in the morning."
Well, call me crazy, but I don't mind waking up to this sight of Palestinian would-be-suicide-bombers, bound and stripped to their underwear, with Israeli special forces guarding them :)
Israeli police foiled a suicide bombing after a high-speed chase along one of Israel's main highways, adding a flashy media angle to a dead-serious task: preventing terror attacks that might influence Israel's election next week. After the midday chase Tuesday, police stopped a van and arrested a suspect they said was linked to Islamic Jihad. They took his bomb to a nearby field, where they blew it up harmlessly.
Palestinian attacks have altered the outcome of elections in the past. Security forces extended a closure on Judea, Samaria and Gaza through election day, March 28, banning Palestinians from entering Israel.
Police set up roadblocks on the main Jerusalem-Tel Aviv highway, causing huge traffic jams, but they succeeded in stopping the van. AP television footage showed police removing the 10 Palestinian passengers from the van at gunpoint, stripped to their underwear, and forcing them to lie face down in a field next to the highway, arms extended, while sappers took away the 7-kilogram (15-pound) bomb, concealed in a bag.
The drama unfolded like a car chase on a California freeway, but without the live TV coverage, because Israeli TV stations don't have their own helicopters....
