YNet tells us that the Israeli government is busying itself with the recommendations of a "special team" which spent three years figuring out how Israeli PR could be improved. The team recommends that a person with extensive PR and communications experience should head the staff, control the Government Press Office and instruct all PR sources on how to handle sensitive issues. Wow.
And that's not the least of it.
At times of emergency, the national PR staff will also be responsible for raising morale and national resilience.
Why do they have to take so long, spend so much money and make everything so damned complicated? For free and off the top of my head, here's what should be done to improve Israeli PR.
First and foremost,
- get that ninny out of the prime minister's seat,
- send Peretz back to Sderot,
- Tzipi Livni to Kibbutz Nir Am,
- and have Shimon Peres start building that Club Med in Gaza immediately.
Then,
- Netanyahu becomes prime minister and Lazer Brody, president.
- Yaakov Amidror is Defense Minister, and in the absence of Oriana Fallaci, Caroline Glick heads the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
- Ron Dermer is put in charge of Finance;
- Professor Aumann gets Education.
- Natan Sharansky becomes Israel's ambassador to the UN and the US, and Zvi Mazel replaces Richard Jones (particulars of citizenship notwithstanding).
- Daniel Gordis runs the Ministry of Immigrant Absorption and the still-unemployed farmers of Gush Katif get the top jobs at The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
- Atlas is the new IDF Spokesperson
- and Shlomo Wollins heads the Government Press Office, assisted by Meryl Yourish.
- Charles Johnson becomes President and CEO of the Jerusalem Post, with Carl as his Editor-in Chief.
Bingo! We see an immediate and significant rise in national morale and resilience, and Israeli "PR" is much improved, probably within 24 hours.
As usual, no charge for BtB's advice... I'm just glad to do my bit for Am Yisrael (Chai) :)
