Somehow I don't think these American politicians are helping matters.
Western Wall Too 'Controversial' For Bush Visit
(IsraelNN.com) The Western Wall has been deemed too controversial a place for US President George W. Bush to visit. He is opting instead for Masada – where Jewish rebels committed mass suicide. How appropriate.
Jimmy Carter to Meet Hamas Chief in Syria
(IsraelNN.com) Former United States President Jimmy Carter is planning to meet with the head of the Islamist terrorist group Hamas.Beneath contempt, as usual.According to the Al-Hayat Arabic paper, Carter is planning to meet with Khaled Mashaal, who heads Hamas from Damascus, Syria, during a visit to the country in the coming weeks.
The meeting, the paper said, is scheduled for April 18.
One wonders how Carter was able to arrange such a meeting. If I wanted to meet with Hamas - Gd forbid - I wouldn't know how or where to begin. Is Mashaal listed in the Damascus phone book? Do they even have phone books in Syria?
"Brothers" Khaled Meshaal and Abu Mazen in Mecca
Whoops - I was thinking there wouldn't be any formal diplomatic channels between the U.S. and Syria, but I was wrong (good thing I have two monitors). The U.S. has had an embassy in Damascus ever since December 1942 (my thanks to the Office of the Historian, Department of State, Washington D.C.).
We will see Jews - and no doubt the entire J-blogosphere - rising up in outrage at Carter's latest antisemitic antics BUT, as Devorah pointed out to me in a conversation last night, he's not really capable of doing anything.
President Bush otoh is far more powerful. Jimmy's just talking, while Bush is actually putting American money in the hands of Hamas... with which they're buying various instruments for killing Jews.
More on that later.
