After listening to the actual remarks on NPR, I'm not sure Jennifer Rubin's heading is accurate, or exactly fair to David Axelrod:
We Don't Need White People.
(Of course that's how the Clintons are playing it, but since when do we follow their lead?)
It all goes to show that we are a post-racial society no longer, if we ever were. The Democrats have been quite successful at drawing new blood from the scabbed-over wounds of our divided past. What I want to know now is, where do you go to find out which fragment you belong to? Am I an American Jew, a White Woman or just a Typical White Person?
Being a hard-working blogger but with no income, am I still considered part of the Working Class? [White. Yes, I know.]
What if a person is both Low Income and Highly Educated? Which takes priority?
We also need help on The Husband's status. He says he is a Russian-American but I think that, given the way he clings to guns and religion, he is a Bitter Clinger, or a Jewish Klingon, or something along those lines, but I really don't know anymore.
As these issues gain momentum, I'm hoping the new Democrat president will establish a Cabinet position and large bureaucratic Department of Identity, that will be able to aid people in knowing exactly who they are.
Maybe it could be part of the new National Health Insurance offices ... or the DMV? Whatever. Just let me know as soon as possible. It's urgent.
