From the blog of the Service Employees International Union, March 19th:
We've just returned from our local AIG headquarters here in D.C., where around 130 people stood in the rain to take part in our Take Back the Economy day of action. Demonstrators held signs, sang songs, and presented AIG with a "reality check" worth billions of dollars from the American people.
Several people spoke, including SEIU President Andy Stern...
First proposed in 1966 and named after Columbia University sociologists Richard Andrew Cloward and Frances Fox Piven, the "Cloward-Piven Strategy" seeks to hasten the fall of capitalism by overloading the government bureaucracy with a flood of impossible demands, thus pushing society into crisis and economic collapse.
The current political and media environment crafted by supposedly idealistic Mr. Obama resembles Hugo Chavez's Venezuela more than John F. Kennedy's America.
Yeshiva Son told me about seeing this at Israel Matzav. I don't know how I missed it, but here it is in all its jaw-dropping glory. Carl called it, "Where are the police?"
This disturbing video came from a French supermarket. A group of 'youth' (Arab/Muslim) invades a French supermarket on a Saturday afternoon and removes all of the Israeli products from the shelves.,,
"It was mostly under the radar," Williams said. "We thought it would put (the president) in a precarious position. We didn't know how closely he wanted to appear to be working with the Muslim American community."
The article goes on to explain that "the move began with Rep. Keith Ellison, D-Minn."
According to the Denver Post, when White House officials heard about [his] program, it was put on overdrive.
Ellison is serious about his faith. He made the pilgrimage to Mecca with the sponsorship of the Muslim American Society, an offshoot of the Muslim Brotherhood.
In 1991, Mohamed Akram wrote a memo for the leadership of the Muslim Brotherhood that explained its work in America as
"a kind of grand jihad in eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within and 'sabotaging' its miserable house by their hands and the hands of the believers so that it is eliminated and God's religion is made victorious over all other religions."
WASHINGTON – However they satisfy their nicotine cravings, tobacco users are facing a big hit as the single largest federal tobacco tax increase ever takes effect Wednesday.
JENIN, West Bank – Palestinian authorities have disbanded a youth orchestra from a West Bank refugee camp and barred the conductor from her studio after she directed a concert for a group of Holocaust survivors in Israel, a local official said on Sunday.
Adnan Hindi of the Jenin camp called the Holocaust a "political issue" and accused the orchestra's conductor of unfairly dragging the children into a politics.
The dispute underscores Palestinian sensitivities over acknowledging Jewish suffering, which many fear could weaken their own historical grievances against Israel. Ignorance and even denial of the Holocaust is widespread in Palestinian society.
At last Wednesday's concert in Holon, most of the Holocaust survivors did not know the youths were Palestinians from the West Bank, a rare sight in Israel these days. And the youths, who range in age from 11 to 18, had no idea they were performing for people who lived through Nazi genocide — or even what the Holocaust was.
Hindi said that conductor Wafa Younis, an Israeli Arab living in Israel, has been banned from the camp, and the apartment where she taught the 13-member Strings of Freedom orchestra has been boarded up.
"She exploited the children," said Hindi, the head of the camp's "popular committee," which takes on municipal duties. "She will be forbidden from doing any activities ... We have to protect our children and our community."
.... Younis, the conductor, denied the issue was political, saying camp officials wanted to take over the orchestra to get its funding.
.... I feel as if I'm watching a movie in which a hired thug kills someone and then another hired thug kills the first thug and then another thug kills the second thug....
The Presidential Approval Index is calculated by subtracting the number who Strongly Disapprove from the number who Strongly Approve. It is updated daily at 9:30 a.m. Eastern (sign up for free daily e-mail update). Updates also available on Twitter.
The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Sunday shows that 37% of the nation's voters now Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President.
Thirty percent (30%) Strongly Disapprove, giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of +7 (see trends).
Overall, 58% of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the President's performance so far. Forty-one percent (41%) disapprove.
The intellectual and philosophical developments of that age (and their impact in moral, social, and political reform) aspired towardmore freedom for common people based on self-governance, natural rights, natural law, central emphasis on liberty, individual rights, reason, common sense, and the principles of deism. These principles were a revolutionary departure from theocracy, oligarchy, aristocracy, and the divine right of kings.
The Enlightenment marks a principled departure from the Middle Ages of religious authority, guild-based economic systems, and censorship of ideas toward an era of rational discourse and personal judgment, republicanism, liberalism, naturalism, scientific method, and modernity.
Major cities and world landmarks have been plunged into darkness as part of a campaign to raise awareness of potentially devastating climate change.
Homes and offices in major cities and landmarks turned their lights off for an hour on Saturday to promote energy-saving in response to the threat of climate change cuased by global warming.
Two of the first landmarks to switch off their lights were the iconic Habour Bridge and Opera House in Sydney, Australia's largest city, with Hong Kong's waterfront, Egypt's pyramids, the Acropolis in Athens, Nigeria Falls and the Eiffel Tower in Paris, following suit.
Notable buildings and streets in China, Singapore, Thailand and the Philippines also switched off their lights, and others in London, Brazil and at the Vatican were doing the same later.
People joined in the campaign by holding candle lit picnics and concerts in a motion back to the days before the world was galvanised by electricity and its increasing use.
New York City's Rockefeller Center moments after it went dark at 8:30 p.m. March 28, 2009, as individuals and organizations turn off non-essential lighting for one hour in a call to action for climate change during World Wildlife Fund's Earth Hour 2009.
As cities and towns across Australia descended into darkness for Earth Hour, 87 countries followed suit to urge world leaders to take tough action on global warming.
Earth Hour's organisers say their message has reached one billion people, with about 4,000 cities around the world taking part....
Around the world, hundreds of landmarks were cloaked in darkness including the Great Pyramids of Egypt, the Empire State Building in New York and the Houses of Parliament in London.
UN Secretary Ban Ki-moon called Earth Hour "a way for the citizens of the world to send a clear message: They want action on climate change".
"Citizens of the world"? A "clear message"? I've never heard anything so ridiculous in all my life. This anti-nationalism simply paves the way for a global Islamic caliphate, and the "clear message" is that we are willing to literally return to the Dark Ages.
It is somehow noble to sit in the dark in America on a Saturday night? Since when? Since Americans rejected the ideal of our national freedom in favor of the more "progressive" appeal of universal darkness.
While useful idiots in candlelit caves across the country and the world seek gratification in a voluntary and masochistic reduction of light, the ObamaNation (need I say, under cover of darkness?) continues to grab power by summarily reducing our freedoms.
