Tom Friedman has always reminded me of the obnoxious kid in grade school -- you know: the one who was always the first to stick his hand in the air to answer the teacher's question, only to come up with the wrong answer. Most of these smarty-pants acquire a little humility over the years, and finally learn to keep their mouths shut. But a terrible thing happened to Friedman on his journey to adulthood: He was given a pulpit and a bullhorn -- courtesy of the New York Times -- and he has been a pain-in-the-neck to thinking people ever since. He is not a journalist in any meaningful sense of the word; he is a classic nudnik.
