I generally loathe the Boulder Daily Camera, but I went looking to see if some friends of ours in Boulder had gotten married. Of course I couldn't find the wedding info, so I ended up reading Friedman's "Letter from Istanbul" at the Camera.
He had me in the first paragraph, wherein he admitted that Turkey's Islamist government is "focused not on joining the European Union but the Arab League -- no, scratch that, on joining the Hamas-Hezbollah-Iran resistance front against Israel."
After that, though, Tommy started acting more like his usual self, so I was rapidly losing interest, until I came to this:
Israel's failure to apply its creativity to solving the Palestinian problem is another dangerous vacuum.
Wow, imagine that. All we needed to do was apply our creativity! Here we've been getting ourselves maimed and murdered all these years when what we should have been doing was "solving the Palestinian problem." Who knew?
The suggestion box is now OPEN; please feel free to apply creativity.
