The unwashed comment made me smile. When I was taking my Scouts to summer camp, we had parents night mid week. New parents were often surprised at how clean and neat our Scouts were, while living in tents and doing campfires, hiking and nature activities in the woods. I would ask them how often their son showered when at home. The answer was usually once or twice a week. I would then explain that at camp, the boys took four showers per day (wake up polar bear swim, swimming classes, afternoon open swim and evening nighthawk swim). They hung up their formal Scout uniforms, and only wore them during flag raising in the morning, and retirement ceremony in the evening. I wonder how often Katie bathes each day, compared to 11 to 17 year old boys at camp? Unwashed, indeed.
