The DREAM idea is breathtakingly stupid. Instead of taking action to stem the flow of illegals, this legislation would virtually guarantee an increased flow. My first inclination was to say that the WaPo's endorsement is just one more example of mush-brained liberal "compassion," which always ends up hurting more people than it helps. But, on second thought, I'd say the WaPo is being more cynical than that. This is another bare-knuckled political gambit designed not to help Hispanics but to nail down their vote for the Democratic Party for the next zillion years. This is crass opportunism disguised as brotherly love -- which, come to think of it, is a pretty good definition of "hypocrisy."

So, I checked with the Air Force son. He said the military already has a streamlined method for immigrants to get U.S. citizenship. After completing three years of military service (less if during a time of war), the citizenship application can be fast tracked through the system. In other words, the DREAM ACT is not needed for military personnel. A red herring for sure. He knows some Koreans who did this during his time in Korea. As far as students, I guess this ACT means if you can hide out in schools long enough, you get a free pass. Shameful.
