An open letter to Baron Munchausen: Sir, for 250 years, you have been the undisputed holder of the World's Biggest Liar title -- an honor you richly deserved. I regret, however, to inform you that as of today, the title has passed to a fellow named Barack Obama. The reasons for the passing of the title will become evident to you as soon as you read Mr. Obama's letter reprinted in the above post. The whoppers you told -- like the one about rescuing yourself from a swamp by pulling upward on your own hair -- were plainly chump-change compared to the whoppers in Mr. Obama's letter. Not even your claim to have taken a ride on a cannonball can come close to the hogwash in this missive. If it is any consolation, Baron, you held the title for two-and-a-half centuries; it took a Master of Mendacity and a Prodigy of Prevarication to beat you. You have earned your place in Valhalla. Rest in peace.
