A preliminary investigation into the gunfire suggests it resulted from a fight between two groups of men at or near the Liberate Occupy Oakland camp on a plaza in front of City Hall, police Chief Howard Jordan said.

UPDATE: In Vermont, police are investigating a shooting in a tent at Occupy Burlington that left a 35-year-old man dead; police believe the gunshot may have been self-inflicted. (More here.)
UPDATE: A dead body was found in a tent at Occupy Salt Lake City on Friday; police say that death is "not suspicious."
