At the Democrats' national convention in Boston in 2004, they burned both the American flag and an effigy of President Bush.
So the question arises in our time as to whether those of us who oppose the current administration could burn the Obamanation flag with equal impunity.
BtB will inquire of our legal department, so don't do anything ... yet ... that could get you detained indefinitely without redress.
But as a backup, you may want to consider these Obama sports shoes from Made-in-China Dot-Com. But, boy oh boy, would that stink or what? The smoke would probably be toxic (as when palistinian mobs burn tires "to signify a period of mourning") and at the very least, the EPA would shut us down in no time.
It shouldn't be necessary to say, but I do think that in advance of the national conventions this summer, both partiess should repudiate the "Mrs. Mandela" approach. For those who don't remember the famed anti-apartheid movement, this bit was excerpted at BtB in '04 - from a link now dead:
"At the height of anti-government protests in the mid-1986 Mrs. Mandela issued what appeared to be a public endorsement of 'necklace' killings, in which township youths burned to death colleagues they suspected of collaborating with apartheid.
De Klerk's National Party has said those responsible for necklacings -- the placing of a burning tire around a victim's neck -- should be hauled before the truth commission."
Truth Commission. Ew. That must a Truth Team that gets a lot of Stimulus. Ya think?
