Obama Campaign "Fellowship" may lead to a JOB?!

So I get this email from the First Lady:

 

I'm writing because Barack needs you out there this summer. Through the Organizing Fellowship program, you can work in a full-time volunteer position, learn the principles of field organizing, and then carry out important grassroots activities on the ground. This summer, thousands of these organizing fellows are going to help lead our grassroots organization -- recruiting volunteers and running events to help more people make their voices heard. It's an amazing experience -- one that could change your life while shaping this country for decades to come. Apply now to be a summer organizing fellow, or pass this note along to someone you know who might be interested. If you take a position as a fellow, you'll help more people to step up at the local level, where there are so many opportunities to make so much change. I followed the link to the application. Here's a screenshot of an early part. Note there are lots of little red asterisks, including at the box where the applicant is to acknowledge awareness that "all Obama Organizing Fellowship positions are unpaid, volunteer positions." 

 

 

So I went in search of the meaning of the little red asterisks. Toward the end of the application, it says this:

 

" While the Organizing Fellowship positions are unpaid, volunteer positions, upon successful completion of the Obama Organizing Fellowship progam, would you be interested in employment?* "

 

Then the applicant is invited to upload a resume. See for yourself in this screenshot:

 

 

I don't know if this is illegal or not, but it sure as hell doesn't smell kosher.

"Would you be interested in employment?" As what? As a peddler of agitprop? As a junior demagogue? As an organizer of Occupy Wall Street flash mobs? As a CPT: Certified Public Troublemaker? As a stormy petrel of the Revolution? As a modern-day sans-culotte, maybe a tumbrel operator escorting victims to the guillotine? Gee ... the possibilities are endless. Who said America is no longer a land of opportunity?
