The drumbeat for dollars

I generally get two or three emails a day from the Obama campaign. They all address me on a first name basis and are signed just as casually.  This morning I got one from "Barack" himself -- to which I've added a graphic. And yes, I did decommission their links (if you want to donate, you'll have to work at it) and I added one of my own.

In a few days, I'll be hitting the trail for my last campaign.

Everything we've accomplished in the past three years -- and our chance to do so much more -- is on the line.

What we do today will be a measure of whether or not we're ready to fight for it.

Donate $3 or whatever you can before tonight's fundraising deadline.

By pitching in before midnight, you'll automatically be in the running to join me and George Clooney at his place on May 10th.

It's not often I can get away from work, so I look forward to spending a fun evening in L.A. with a couple supporters like you.

Gee whiz, Yael, I'm so bedazzled I can hardly see the keyboard, much less type. I'm breathless. How in the world did you ever manage to get a letter from The One himself -- and how did the two of you get on a first-name basis? This really blows my mind. And that tete-a-tete at George Clooney's place! Is that his place in Beverly Hills? Or is it the villa in Italy? I sure hope it's Italy -- they tell me the Tuscan hills are simply gorgeous at this time of year. I know you've got a lot of packing to do before you jet over to the villa, so I'll cut this short. Be sure to take lots of pics. I wanna show them to my dog. I don't have a dog -- but I intend to get one just for this special occasion. Bon voyage ... or arrividerci ... or whatever.
