Washington Times:

President Obama may have suspended his campaign rallies due to Hurricane Sandy, but he managed to squeeze in his campaign slogan — intentionally or not — during a briefing Tuesday with federal emergency officials.

"The president made clear that he expects his team to remain focused as the immediate impacts of Hurricane Sandy continue and lean forward in their response," the White House said in a statement about Mr. Obama's video-teleconference that he conducted from the White House Situation Room. "Forward" is the slogan of his re-election campaign.

 

October 2010:  MSNBC, the second highest-rated cable news channel in the United States... launched a two-year, multimillion-dollar advertising campaign centered around the two-word tagline: “Lean Forward.”

Obama is "all over this hurricane"

.... Unlike previous catastrophes that were not as close to Election Day, such as the attack on the embassy in Benghazi, the wildfires that ravaged the nation this spring and summer, storms that killed several dozen people in April 2011, and the BP Gulf oil spill of 2010, President Obama is all over this hurricane.

 

Let us add to that list, the massive wild fires in Texas last year:

 

Texas Governor Rick Perry criticized the Obama administration ... for not responding to a request for a disaster aid for the parched state, where wildfires have scorched nearly 2 million acres.

“You have to ask, ‘Why are you taking care of Alabama and other states?’ I know our letter didn’t get lost in the mail,” Perry, a Republican and frequent critic of the federal government, said after addressing a Texas emergency management conference.

President Barack Obama declared a state of emergency for Alabama, where storms — including a tornado that ravaged Tuscaloosa on Wednesday — killed nearly 200 people this week. The White House said Obama will visit the state on Friday.

“There is a point in time where you say, ‘Hey, what’s going on here?’” Perry said.

Perry had requested a federal declaration of emergency for Texas as the wildfires began to rage across the large state. The request has not been answered...

“They watch TV, they know what’s going on here...” Perry said.

 

 

That was April.  Five months later, in September, the "dispute" was ongoing:

.... The dustup is the latest in a dispute between Texas officials, including Gov. Rick Perry, and the Obama administration that began in April when Perry submitted a broad request that 252 of Texas' 254 counties be given a Major Disaster Declaration because of large wildfires burning throughout the state. The federal government denied that request, which Perry appealed; in July, the federal government granted the request for 45 counties.

 

Of course we cannot expect any "reporters" to remember all the way back to 2011. They are much too busy trying to get Obama re-elected -- in the only way possible, by stacking the deck against his opponent:

He began his presidency by playing God,

saying he’d lower the waters.

 

 

 He ends his presidency with God sending floods.

That will be a perfect lesson for the ages, if he in fact loses.

Writing for this Hinterland Gazette, Janet Shan:

I have no doubt that President Obama will handle this exceptionally well, as he did when he sent Navy SEALs to assassinate Osama bin Laden.

 

 

 

No such photo seems to exist for the White House Situation Room on 9/11 of this year, when our consulate in Benghazi was under attack and four Americans were killed.

 

Update: Hot Air tells us that this morning there's a "blistering column" at the Washington Times by retired Admiral James A. Lyons, who was commander in chief of the U.S. Pacific Fleet and senior U.S. military representative to the United Nations:

Obama needs to come clean on what happened in Benghazi; the American people deserve to know the truth

There is an urgent need for full disclosure of what has become the “Benghazi Betrayal and Cover-up.” The Obama national security team, including CIA, DNI and the Pentagon, apparently watched and listened to the assault on the U.S. consulate and cries for help but did nothing. If someone had described a fictional situation with a similar scenario and described our leadership ignoring the pleas for help, I would have said it was not realistic—not in my America – but I would have been proven wrong.

Having been in a number of similar situations, I know you have to have the courage to do what’s right and take immediate action. Obviously, that courage was lacking for Benghazi. The safety of your personnel always remains paramount. With all the technology and military capability we had in theater, for our leadership to have deliberately ignored the pleas for assistance is not only incomprehensible, it is un-American.

 

Meanwhile, also from Hot Air ... "another curiosity." 

General Carter Han, who commanded AFRICOM on September 11th, had already been rotated back home.  Now we find out he’s leaving the Army altogether.

 

Absolutely Anti-American

Andrew C. McCarthy:

As U.S. Ambassador to Libya, as an American attempting to transition the former Qaddafi dictatorship into something approximating Western democracy, Christopher Stephens was deemed an enemy worthy of killing; therefore, sharia ideologues killed him, along with three other similarly “culpable” Americans.

That is what happened. It is, moreover, what President Obama and his administration knew happened. They no doubt knew it while it was happening. They undeniably knew it within hours of its happening. And in spite of knowing it, they weaved a web of lies, over a course of weeks, to obscure what happened. They did so in gross violation of the president’s oath of office, and in a willfully anti-Constitutional conspiracy with Islamists against American free expression rights — a conspiracy resulting in the unforgivable prosecution of an American citizen for exercising his First Amendment right to make a video negatively depicting Islam. A video top administration officials, including the president himself, fraudulently portrayed as the catalyst of murderous Islamist savagery, intentionally obscuring the role of sharia.

Cries of Treason

 

Roger L. Simon:

Is it treason when you put your own reelection above the good of your country and the lives of its citizens? If so, Barack Obama committed treason in leaving the four Americans to die in Benghazi.

Our Constitution defines it this way: “Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort.”

Aid and comfort to the enemy — what is that?

When you ascribe an action to the protest of a video when it is actuality a planned terror attack by Ansar al-Shariah, an established offshoot of al-Qaeda (if that’s not your “enemy,” then who) — and you knew that all along, you watched it live without doing anything, and then you told those who wanted to help to “stand down”?

Meanwhile, our government may have been conspiring to arm another offshoot of al-Qaeda in Syria.

How much more treasonous can you get? Benedict Arnold was a piker.

Indeed, the discussion of Benghazi has just begun. And don’t be surprised if the conversation escalates from impeachment to treason very quickly. In fact, if Obama wins reelection you can bet on it. The cries of treason will be unstoppable....

 

And the treachery is not limited to our president. See Pat Caddell's comments - beginning at about 1:15 - that [the media} has become a "fundamental threat to American democracy and the enemies of the American people..... these people have no honor .... Coverup is too nice a word...."
