In the following six years, a terrorist organization took over half the putative Palestinian state in a coup, Israel nevertheless offered the Palestinians a state yet again, which they turned down, the U.S. elected a president who set out to put space between America and Israel, repeatedly humiliated its prime minister, refused to visit, and has just finished leaning on Israel to end its military operation against the terrorist organization, while managing indiect negotiations between it and Israel as if there were equals. The moral retreat of the U.S. is just about complete.
