Federal outlays (spending) amounted to less than $1.8 Trillion in fiscal year 2000. It's exactly DOUBLE that now (FY2012): $3.6 Trillion.
Did anyone complain that the federal government was too small back in 2000?
And are we any better off now, with DOUBLE THE SPENDING and TRIPLE THE DEBT?
This week's Sky-Is-Falling "Sequester" is a drop in the bucket. The federal government is spending $10.5 Billion each and every day, so the "Sequester" only amounts to eight days' worth. Any way you look at it, it's only 2 percent, the same proportion by which Obama just raised payroll taxes.
I say let the tree fall in the woods.
