M/Obama - quoted in the New York Times March 19, 2009, ostensibly in reference to her vegetable garden:

“My hope is that through children, they will begin to educate their families and that will, in turn, begin to educate our communities.”

 

That's always given me the creeps, as I feared at the time this philosophy would be applied beyond the garden. Recent news seems to affirm my fear:

Nationalized Pre-School Education

President Obama would have the government raise your children by nationalizing government education from birth through adulthood. His new preschool education plan is set to accommodate every preschool child in the nation, not only the needy.

Ramirez is the best political cartoonist of our day -- maybe the best since Thomas Nast. This whole business about kids educating their families is spooky. The basic idea, of course, is that America's parents are too stupid to know what's good for them, until their kids -- indoctrinated by Michelle and a few million other busybodies -- teach them. How much longer before we require kids to stand up in class and snitch on their parents for any variety of "wrongs"? The time has come -- it's long past due -- to fully privatize American education. There's no better way to stop the government from playing mind-games with our children. At present, America's public schools are the gateway on the road to serfdom.
