Rubio's Responsum

 

Marco Rubio [is good-looking and] appears reasonable, but I don't know if that's sufficient anymore. And too, I am really appalled by this (very popular) idea that to win an election, Republicans have to act like Democrats. Personally, I cringed when I heard Rubio protest the ubiquitous meme that Republicans "only care about the rich" by whining as follows:

 ".... [But] Mr. President, I still live in the same working class neighborhood I grew up in. My neighbors aren't millionaires!"

 

Right. And his mom gets Social Security benefits... just like Paul Ryan's mom, Betty. Does that somehow make his opinion more valid than if he lived in a neighborhood of McMansions and had a wealthy mom, dripping in diamonds?  How soon the GOP forgets that 61 million Americans voted for gazillionaire Mitt Romney!

There's no sense in crying over spilled milk, but to my mind the 2012 election was close enough that we needn't sink to to playing DemLite in order to win elections in the future. If we need to accentuate the contrast between the two parties, how wise is it to talk like they do, humble roots and all?  Oh waaah.

Last but not least... I missed seeing Rand Paul's Tea Party response. Once "The End" rolled up (or was it down?) on The Won's TelePrompter, I switched to Justified. And now I can't find an online video of RP anywhere. If you know where it's hidden, please post a link in the comments.

 

The Exalted Won's Snow Job

In case you've been napping and haven't yet heard, the Democrat party's "Organizing for America" has morphed into a "non-partisan" non-profit - or 501(c)4 - called "Organizing for Action" ... because, as Michelle Obama makes "clear,"

 

"... all that hard work was

about more than just one election."

 

 

Organizing for Action  -the organization M/Obama says constitutes "the next phase of our movement"-  sent out this message yesterday:

Tonight, after the President finishes delivering the State of the Union from the Capitol, he'd like to jump on the phone for a special online call with the folks building this organization.

You're going to want to be a part of this. The call will start at 10:00 p.m. Eastern time...

 

BUT But but... Going on this call would have meant that the OfA-ers would miss the opposition responses by Rubio and Rand Paul.

Oh. Maybe that was the point.

 

 

 

Alex Rausch reports at PolicyMic that Obama thanked supporters on the call and asked that they tweet (#jobsnow) "in support."

(I wonder, Is that "Jobs Now" or "Job Snow," as in snow job?)

 

"Organizing for action is an interesting organization as it is fairly new, and, as I understand it, is now a Political Action Committee formed out of Obama's former campaign committee. This means it has potential legs even following the president's term. We shall see as we move further into his term."

 

I can agree on one bit at least: "We shall see" ... as we move forward.

Nulla Contro Lo Stato: Our Goofball VP calls on the Palace Press to come to the aid of the State

During a press conference on gun safety in Philadelphia... Biden said that it was important for the media to dissuade the American public from the idea that the Obama administration was prepared to do something unconstitutional on guns.

“To be very blunt with you, we’re counting on all of you, the legitimate news media to cover these discussions because the truth is that times have changed,” Biden added, warning that people would continue to “misrepresent” the White House's plans for gun control.

 

One is reminded of Mussolini's mantra:

I am a Marine - tasted my own blood and wore the blood of the guy in front of me. Carried their bodies and watched their guts wash down a hanger deck drainpipe. One day he is in the bunk above me, forming a shape in the outline from below. The next day he is inside three uneven trash bags -- one deck above me. When I take my smoke break on the fantail I pass by the ship morgue and walk-in fridge.

I came home a 100% disabled veteran and have no regrets at all. What a ride. Each Marine I have known would spring like a cat to die for anyone in sight - or kill anyone in sight, Orders [or urgency] will always prevail - and you can't stop us.

Shock is a mild word to describe the action of Obama here:

 

I will try to remain calm for this opinion. The very notion that you do not trust the Palace Guard is astonishing to Americans. Anyone who studied Caesar sees the point. Obama is afraid of those who protect him. You may ask yourself, is this a rational thought.....

Does it reflect an underlying [and undiagnosed] paranoid personality disorder. Has running from reality for decades affected his judgment. Do we have a psychopath for a President -- with demons even he cannot control or repress. Is Barack Hussein Obama a threat to national security. 

Well, look at the photos. He disabled the rifles of United States Marines.

• The Congressional Black Caucus is "quietly seething," because - my interpretation - they feel Latinos have [unexpectedly!] usurped their position as Obama's No. 1 Favorite special-interest/ethnic group. Could it be that when your grupo votes for someone in overwhelming unison - not once, but twice - and behaves as if blind, deaf and dumb to any shortcomings or disappointments, that person will take you for granted? (And we all say: Duh.)

 

• Isi Liebler, candidly speaking from Jerusalem, notes that "Argentina’s President Cristina Kirchner has jettisoned whatever was left of her country’s moral standing by consummating a devil’s pact with Iran..."

• The Senate Armed Services Committee is voting this afternoon on the Hagel nomination for SecDef. While we wait to hear that they've passed this to the Senate floor in a party-line vote, it's worth noting that Dick Cheney rained on Obama's parade as follows: "Frankly what he has appointed are second-rate people."  (Honk if you love Cheney.)

 

• Is the cost of filling your gas tank going up? Or is it as Seth Lipsky suggests: what you're seeing is actually the value of the U.S. dollar going down. (Who woulda thunk it?  Other than the mujahideen, of course.)

Good thing we don't have a spending problem

Rick Richman has the latest on U.$. aid to the poorpalestains:

The State Department said yesterday it is seeking release of $495.7 million in U.S. funds for the Palestinian Authority designated for 2012, and another $200 million designated so far for 2013 ...

 

The State Department spokesperson "simply" says:

" I would simply say that the Secretary feels extremely strongly that it is time now to get this support to the Palestinian Authority.” 

 

"An Agenda That Begins With Jobs"

 

As we wait for The Exalted Won to render his verdict on the state of our union, let us remember his golden-tongue address to a joint session of Congress... four years ago:

 

.... Now is the time to act boldly and wisely, to not only revive this economy, but to build a new foundation for lasting prosperity.

Now is the time to jump-start job creation, re-start lending, and invest in areas like energy, health care, and education that will grow our economy, even as we make hard choices to bring our deficit down. That is what my economic agenda is designed to do, and that is what I'd like to talk to you about tonight.

It's an agenda that begins with jobs....

As soon as I took office, I asked this Congress to send me a recovery plan by Presidents Day that would put people back to work and put money in their pockets, not because I believe in bigger government -- I don't -- not because I'm not mindful of the massive debt we've inherited -- I am.

I called for action because the failure to do so would have cost more jobs and caused more hardships. In fact, a failure to act would have worsened our long-term deficit by assuring weak economic growth for years....

 

Will Obama Bow to Bibi?

 

After seeing myrightword "On Obama's Bowing," it amused me to imagine him bowing to Netanyahu when he visits Israel next month. Can you imagine how many heads would explode in the "Muslim World"? 

 

Bibi addressed a joint session of Congress in May 2011, during which he was "interrupted by bipartisan standing ovations 29 times during a speech that ran about 40 minutes." Heh.
