Any connoisseur of irony has to find deep relish in the fact that the Playboy of Chappaquidik -- himself as louche a liar as any American political figure of recent years -- would be the guy who accused the Bush administration of "lie after lie after lie after lie." I'm reminded of Adlai Stevenson's quip: "A lie is an abomination unto the Lord -- and a very present help when you're in trouble." Good ol' Teddy got himself into a heap of trouble in his lifetime, so I guess he needed all the "present help" he could get.

If you've read the book Saddam's Secrets, an Iraqi Air Force general told how the WMDs were moved into Syria under the guise of humanitarian supplies after an irrigation dam collapsed there in 2002.
